Children Reinventing Cinema

This program celebrates the future of cinema through the eyes of the youngest filmmakers ever. Short films made by kids from the past and the present will be intertwined with experimental works by adult filmmakers who are inspired by young children. The intergenerational thread aims to reverse the traditional adult-child relationship by putting the child at the center – because it is from children and their unique way of looking at the world and playing with media that we can learn about the future of cinema. The program is informed by the new book “Children Reinventing Cinema: Snapshots of the Early 21st Century” (meson press, 2025), coauthored by Alexandra Schneider and Wanda Strauven.
