This screening features two films by Chantal Akerman: the early tragicomedy "Saute ma ville" and the subversive screwball comedy "Demain on déménage (Tomorrow We Move)." Each screening will include an introduction by notable figures. The first event on September 12 will be introduced by Sylviane Akerman and Tomas Leyers, Director of the Royal Film Archive of Belgium — CINEMATEK, at MoMA, Floor T2/T1, Theater 1. The second event on October 3 will be introduced by Aurore Clément at MoMA, Floor T2/T1, Theater 2. Both films are restored and presented with their original language and subtitles.

Chantal Akerman's early work, "Saute ma ville," is a manic, Beckettian tragicomedy where an 18-year-old Akerman performs a semiotics of her cramped kitchen, breaking norms confining women to domestic tasks. "Demain on déménage (Tomorrow We Move)," a screwball comedy, delves into the dark undercurrent of survivor's guilt, following a ditsy writer and her oversensitive, recently widowed mother.
